why is hetalia bad? each country is a literal stereotyped personification of the country they represent and grow and change based on the time, but it makes light of atrocities and wars that happened in history or half-ass mentions them and makes them into a literal joke. (especially with wwii, the american revolution*, the nanking massacre, the cuban missle crisis, the holocaust, japanese imperialism, the glorification of fascist italy, totalitarian communistic dictatorship russia, etc etc etc.)

*american revolution because they never touch on how many soldiers suffered in terrible conditions and died from starvation, hypothermia, and gangrene, and most soldiers serving as “liberated slaves” only to never receive any reward whatsoever but to be turned back into slavery or killed on the frontlines for protection fodder but they don’t teach you that in 8th grade history
